ENDURO BEARING 61802 15X24X5 ABEC 5
Grade 5 Chromium Steel Balls
High precision balls are within 5/1,000,000″ round. These are military level specification, used for precision equipment. R-64 hardness, of the highest grade.
52100 High Carbon Chromium Alloy Races
Enduro Bearings uses highest quality 52100 High Carbon Chromium Steel Alloy race material from Japan. There are many suppliers of 52100 material, but they do not all necessarily provide the same quality material. The material for Enduro steel races starts with and extremely-pure, vacuum de-gassed chromium steel alloy that is then hardened to Rockwell HRC 64 by multiple rounds of heat and cryogenic treatment. The material is then cut to size and the races are machined, ground and polished to a mirror finish for ABEC-% precision and noiseless movement.
Nylon/Graphite and Steel Ball Retainers
ABEC 5 bearings have either nylon/graphite retainers or new 1022 steel cages for improved strength. Depending on the usual duty for the specific bearing size, we now choose either 1022 steel or nylon/graphite to better suit the types of forces and duty the bearing most likely will handle. With the advent of thru-axles and asymmetric disc brake forces, 1022 steel retainers better align the balls with axial forces. Nylon/graphite retainers perform smoothest under strictly radial loads.
Grease Type
ABEC 5 bearings are now using the recently improved formula of Mobil XHP 222 grease. The new formula performs better for all situations that we have ever tested. This includes protection against the elements of rain, dirt, muck, and sand over extended periods of testing, far outlasting previous greases we have tested. The new Mobil XHP 222 grease will not separate over time or with intense heat such as car storage on a hot day. It also can resist very low temperatures better than the competition such a snow or ice environments.
The ABEC 5 Standard
To meet the ABEC-5 standard, bearing design must pass all tests, which include noise testing at high RPM, extremely close tolerances for I.D. and O.D., roundness of ball, trueness of the races and micro surface finishes of balls and races.
C-3 Clearance
This specification describes the internal clearance between the bearing and its race. For example, in a 10-18 I.D. bearing, our standard is 11-21 micrometers where as others use 11-25 micrometers.
All across the board, Enduro bearings have higher standards of tolerance to ensure superior performance.
