SHIMANO XT M8120 BRAKE

The original MTB group continues its legacy of remaining the standard for mountainbikers everywhere. Nearly three decades in, the Deore XT brand is defined by its trail-tested durability, reliability and performance. As mountainbiking becomes faster and faster and the terrain even more technical, the M8100 series aims to give the rider the necessary feeling of confidence and safety.

Following the principle of passing on the experiences and technologies of the top series, the Deore XT incorporates the innovations of the high-end XTR components. Accordingly the new 12-speed groupset features of course Micro Spline and Hyperglide+.

Shimano Deore XT BL-M8100 brake lever

The Shimano Deore XT BL-M8100 brake lever's clamp is angled what leads to direct contact between compensation tank and handlebar. The so created two contact points provide significantly increased stiffness, which ultimately results in more direct feedback and thus more braking power.

The braking performance is optimized as well by the Shimano ServoWave technology which improves the lever's modulation ability. Because the brake lever absorbs a lot of braking distance right at the start of its movement, the brake pads have disc contact more quickly and it remains more lever travel to adjust braking force. That is why SERVO WAVE brake systems are characterised by faster response, higher performance and shorter idle travel.

The BL-M8100 is even under high temp conditions 10 % stiffer than its predecessor. The brake lever's reach is individually adjustable without the use of any additional tools. Thanks to the I-Spec EV design the Deore XT SL-M8100-I shifting levers can be mounted directly to the brake lever.

Shimano Deore XT BR-M8120 disc brake caliper

The Shimano Deore XT BR-M8120 Postmount brake caliper is with its 4-piston construction perfect for Trail and Enduro use. Compared to its predecessor a quicker piston retraction leads to superior modulation what results in an improved braking control. The N03A Resin or N04C Metal brake pads with Ice-Tech cooling fins in combination with the powerful 4-piston caliper guarantee extremely good deceleration. In addition, the design with 4 pistons reduces disc brake rotor wobbling noise and increases the braking power by 10 % compared to the BR-M8020 caliper.
